Life is an uphill battle, and it’s a struggle dealing with what it throws at you. Then, unexpectedly you find someone who makes it a little more enjoyable. It’s someone you learn to trust, care for, and love—a person who’ll make you believe in the unbelievable. You’ll think they can do no wrong but it doesn’t work out that way.
It won’t make sense.
You’ll stay up all night in bed, staring at the ceiling, confused. Questioning if the feelings in the beginning were genuine. Wondering if it’s all your fault. Trying to understand why the universe brought someone into your life just for them to turn around and hurt you.
It won’t make sense.
You’ll think the nastiest, most negative thoughts about yourself, about them, about life. It’s the sting of betrayal that ignites the anger, making you want them to hurt as they hurt you. A sense of rage will wash over you, making you regret what once meant everything.
It won’t make sense.
Then you’ll cry, because you’ll realise it’s over. A 1,600-piece puzzle that you painstakingly built has been shattered by a sudden betrayal. Rebuilding it will bring you heart-wrenching pain because of the newfound fear in your heart. You thought you knew everything, but realized how little you know.
It won’t make sense.
But it just isn’t supposed to and that’s the beauty of it. Life’s unpredictability makes it worth living. In the moments of our anguish, we get to wipe the slate clean, create a new beginning, and rediscover the person we thought was lost. So, sure, it won’t make sense but don’t worry because many things in life will. Such as the joy of listening to your favorite song, the comfort of a hug from friends, the satisfaction of finding a good sale, the pleasure of watching a sunset, or the excitement of exploring new sights.
So focus on the things in life that do make sense. Embrace the chaos, give it some time, take a deep breath and eventually, you’ll be okay.
